Swashbucklers is Auckland’s iconic, preeminent ‘destination’ seafood dining experience, located on the water’s edge in spectacular Westhaven Marina. Enjoy the food and hospitality for lunch or dinner 5 days (Wednesday-Sunday) from 12 noon until late. We are closed on Mondays & Tuesdays.

Swashbucklers has been a local favourite since 1997 and on any day you can kick back and watch Auckland earn it’s City of Sails title. Relax or party, enjoy the open attitude and friendly surrounds in the Boatshed Bar or pull up a pew on the deck looking out over the boats and the postcard view of the Auckland Harbour Bridge. Larger groups can book the function room; wired for audio/video with full bar, restaurant and barista services it can host up to 100 people.

With arguably the best seafood in Auckland Swashbucklers cater to all tastes with steak and chicken dishes as good as you’ll find anywhere. The wait staff service is famous and after a few visits its likely they’ll know you on a first name basis.

The unique combination of location, unpretentiousness, quality and service has cemented Swashbucklers’ reputation as a true Auckland institution.

If you like great food, great service, ample parking and more than a hint of seafaring kitsch in your surroundings head to Swashbucklers where the foot of your menu reads:

“In the event of Tsunami, Earthquake or Fire, please:
1st Pay your bill
2nd Head for the hills”

A few notes for our customers:

Outside tables are not available for reservation; they are sat on a first come first serve basis only.
There is no table service on the outside tables, however they are cleared routinely.

We are open from 12 noon to 10:00pm Wednesday to Sunday. We are closed on Mondays & Tuesdays. Our kitchen will take last meal orders of the night at 9:15pm unless it is an unusually quiet night and we close earlier. We recommend you always call us on 09 307 5979 to avoid disappointment.

After making an online booking on our website, you will receive a phone call to confirm or offer an alternative if your preferred time is unavailable.
Please Note: Your reservation has not been booked if we have not contacted you to confirm.
If your booking is urgent or you have not been contacted by us feel free to call us on 09 307 5979 to confirm.

To ensure the best experience for our patrons we currently have a maximum limit of 8 diners per table.
For groups of 9 or more, we can offer the exclusive use of our private function room by arrangement, subject to a room hire fee.
• No such bookings are confirmed until the hire fee is paid.
Any changes to numbers in a group MUST be advised no later than 24 hours prior to the booking.
Click here for our full group bookings policies and T&Cs, including our bank account information for deposits.

Note: For casual group drinks and nibbles, we often have plenty of standing room on the deck and in the ‘Boatshed’ Bar, which require no booking or fee. These areas can not be reserved and are available on a first come first served basis.

This means there will not be individual accounts for every diner; however, we do permit diners to split the bill evenly.
Eg. 5 diners with a total bill of $300, can be paid at $60/head.

Swashbucklers have an eclectic clientele of ‘suits’, sailors, hipsters, families, celebs and everyone in between. We pride ourselves on being a place where the doors are open to one and all but with that we have to have a few rules so that we’re not breaking the law and everyone enjoys their experience with us and other patrons.
There are of course the Health and Safety and Sale and Supply of Alcohol laws that we and all restaurants and bars must adhere to, but for customers our codes are very simple and are as follows:

• no muddy footwear
• no bare feet
• no singlets

Any unruly behaviour will not be tolerated. We reserve the right to not host or serve anyone we deem to be disruptive as the comfort and well-being of our patrons and staff are our priority.
We support and do our very best to promote responsible drinking. We love to see our customers enjoying themselves but if we notice any misbehaviour may stop service to a person or group. If we deem behaviour to be unacceptable we may ask the individual and/or entire group to leave the premises.

We love kids, but in consideration of other diners we request that their noise is kept to a reasonable level and they remain at your table or are supervised at all times. Staff with hot food and drinks require a clear thoroughfare to serve safely, so in order to look after both our staff and customers, we reserve the right to refuse service.
